Schoharie Valley Farm to School Project

  • Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie County acts as coordinator for development and implementation of a local Farm to School Program. As such, we partner with numerous schools, agencies, farmers and interested individuals for the fundamental goal of reestablishing a relationship between students and the source of their food - the farm. In doing so, it is projected that we will...

    * Decrease the rates of obesity and diabetes of the school students in this community as a result of an increase in their consumption of local fruits and vegetables, and...
    * We will aid in maintaining our local/regional food supply system through greater direct purchasing of produce from area farms by local school food services.

The Schoharie Valley Farm to School Project is supported by the Cornell University Farm to School Research and Extension Program which is based in the Division of Nutritional Sciences in both the College of Human Ecology and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
